Krista was a loving daughter, wife, “dog mom,” aunt, niece, and friend.

Born in Salem, Oregon, Krista and her parents moved to Scottsdale, Arizona in 1986 where Krista attended high school at Thunderbird Academy.

Krista graduated from the University of Arizona in 1994 with a Bachelor’s degree in English and a minor in Spanish. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.

Krista earned her Master’s degree from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University and pursued a career in TV news at Fox10 News where she worked for many years as a TV news producer.

At Fox Channel 10, Krista met and married the love of her life, TV sports producer Jeff Lake. Krista and Jeff had three Corgi dogs, Wesley, Tessa and Jackson, whom they loved and cherished.

Years later, after a career change, Krista joined her father in a land acquisition business for the senior housing industry.

Krista loved animals of all kinds. She was an accomplished pianist and flautist. She loved to travel internationally, garden, ski, and hike. She was a beautiful person inside and out. Her love of life and care for others was evident in everything she did. Krista’s spirit lives on in the lives of those she touched. Without her, our lives are forever changed.

The Spirit of Krista has inspired Krista’s family and friends to establish “Melanoma Kills” with the intent of educating others about the dangers of melanoma and other kinds of skin cancer. It is our sincere hope that through education, action and prevention, we can help others avoid the devastating heartache of losing a loved one to skin cancer.

Krista’s beautiful spirit will live on in our hearts always.
